POOL & SPA
Recently we advised that our staff would be performing the pool and spa maintenance.  However, for correct pool and spa water balance and sanitization we have decided that it is best a employ a professional pool service company, supplemented by our staff on days when the service company is absent.
The spa has recently been completely resurfaced, and two water line leaks were found and repaired.

COMMON ELEMENTS
The Renaissance has been undergoing major demolition and construction over the past year.  There is no question that there has been significant damage and wear and tear to the halls, hallway carpets, wall coverings, doors, decorative trim, loading dock, service hallway walls and door frames, service elevator doors and alcoves, and other common element facilities.
The Developer has stated an intention to restore the common elements to the condition that they were before remediation began.  If any damaged item in the common elements is not restored to pre-remediation condition, the Developer will be expected to replace it.  The Association will inspect each element (carpets, trim, walls, etc.) after the Developer completes common element restoration work, and if the inspection reveals residual damage or wear that can be attributed to remediation, the Developer will be asked to complete the job or replace the damage with new material.
Our housekeeping staff is always striving to keep the common elements in top condition, but because of the remediation and the constant traffic by contractors and their equipment, some common areas may be showing signs of premature wear and tear.
The Developer has pledged to correct the damage done during remediation, but the restoration cannot be completed until remediation has ended.  The Developer hopes to finish all apartment remediation in November.  In the interim, the Developer will begin cleaning carpets and restoring hallway details as remediation is completed on each floor of the building.

ANNUAL CONDO ELECTIONS
Annual condominium elections are coming in November, and owners who feel that they can contribute by serving on the Renaissance I Condominium Association Board of Directors should consider running for election to the recently expanded seven-member Board.  If you are willing to spend time working on behalf of your neighbors, and feel that you can objectively and fairly represent the interests of all the owners, you may be just the person that the Renaissance I Condominium Association Board of Directors needs.
Written notices of candidacy, and optional candidate information sheets will be solicited from the owners in a mailing in early September.

There is no "candidate application form", but by Florida Statute a candidate must notify the Association in writing of an intention to run in the election not less than 40 days before the election, and optional candidate information sheets must be limited to a single typed page and received by the association not later than 35 days prior to the election.
Nominating committees, and proxies for the election of candidates to condominium Boards of Directors are not permitted in Florida.
Candidate information sheets received by the deadline will be duplicated by the Association and distributed with the voting package that is sent to each owner before the election.

MOVIE NIGHT
The September movie is "The Life of David Gale" starring Kevin Spacey and Kate Winslet.  An electrifying, suspenseful journey into deadly conspiracy and murderous deception begins when a respected professor who may - or may not - be guilty is charged with a brutal crime.  The Life of David Gale is a brilliantly unpredictable thriller, which builds relentlessly to a shocking final twist guaranteed to blow you away!
The movie will be shown in the media room on Thursday, September 4 at 7:30 pm.  Popcorn and sodas will be provided.

FALSE ALARMS
Some smoke detectors in the common areas have been initiating "false alarms".  We understand how annoying this can be when residents are asked to use the stairs and leave the building.  We have asked our alarm service contractor to check the smoke detection and alarm system and to do what is required to eliminate future false alarms.
