LET'S TALK TURKEY Turkeys originated in North and Central America, and evidence indicates that they have been around for over 10 million years. The American Indians hunted wild turkeys for their sweet, juicy meat as early as 1000 AD. Turkey feathers were used to stabilize arrows and adorn ceremonial dress, and the spurs on the legs were used as projectiles on arrowheads. Mature turkeys have 3,500 or so feathers at maturity.
Today, more than 45 million turkeys are cooked and eaten during Thanksgiving. Americans feast on approximately 535 million pounds of turkey on Thanksgiving Day. The average weight of a turkey purchased for Thanksgiving is 15 pounds. A 15-pound turkey typically has about 70% white meat and 30% dark meat. Interestingly enough, Californians are the biggest turkey eaters in the country, consuming three pounds more turkey than the average American.
The Guiness Book of Records states that the largest dressed weight (cooked, with dressing) recorded for a turkey is 86 pounds. Eat up, enjoy and have a happy turkey day! * * * * * * * * * * TRASH CHUTE Please do not force large boxes into the trash chute because they will jam and cause a back up of trash in the chute. Instead, bring cardboard boxes to the service elevator lobby and a member of our staff will dispose of them. Remember to wrap all trash in plastic bags. Unwrapped trash may cling to walls of the chute and will result in odor problems and pest infestation. For your convenience, recycling containers have been placed on the ground floor in the service elevator lobby. These containers are for paper, plastic bottles and jars, green, brown and clear glass and aluminum and metal cans.
BARBECUE GRILLS For the safety of all residents, charcoal grills, gas grills and other cooking devices are not permitted on balconies of the units at the Renaissance. For your convenience there is a barbecue grill off of the pool deck area. See the concierge desk to reserve the grill and please remember to always clean the grill after each use. Thank you for your cooperation.

MOVIE NIGHT The movie for this month is "Life or Something Like It". Angelina Jolie and Edward Burns sizzle in this romantic comedy about making choices, making friends and making a mess. Jolie is a beautiful, ambitious newscaster who thinks that having the perfect hair, perfect boyfriend and perfect apartment adds up to the perfect life, until an encounter with a street psychic throws her world into chaos. With the help of her handsome, wise-cracking co-worker (Burns), Lanie must face a destiny as hilarious as it is romantic. The movie will be showing in the media room on Thursday, November 14 at 7:30 pm. Popcorn and sodas will be provided.

We ask your cooperation in parking only in a space that you own. Visitors may park in the Visitor spaces on the garage first floor.
