TOUR OF HOMES
On March 23rd, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will have the Renaissance of Sarasota on their 16th Annual Tour of Homes.  This is for an excellent cause and will provide an opportunity for the community to preview the Renaissance models.

BARBECUE GRILL
Please see the concierge desk to reserve the barbecue grill.  There is an instruction manual that will be given to you when the grill is reserved.  It is important to review the manual and to adhere to the necessary safety precautions.  Also, please remember to clean the grill after you use it.

FINANCIAL SEMINAR
There will be a financial seminar hosted by Morgan Stanley on March 13th from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Media Center.  They will focus on investing  reducing taxes and increasing returns, eliminating unnecessary costs and management expenses, fixed income strategies and trust & estate planning.  The program is for everyone, no matter what stage of life.  They plan to be informative, and at the very least, entertaining.

MOVIE NIGHT
The March movie is "The Pledge", a psychological thriller starring Jack Nicholson. Nicholson is a retired homicide cop who promised a victim's family he would find their child's killer.  The movie will be showing in the Media Room on Thursday, March 7 at 7:30 pm.
Popcorn and sodas provided.

TRASH CHUTES
All residents must place their garbage in a bag and securely close it prior to placing  it in the trash chute.  The fruit flies are enjoying the garbage that is discarded in the chute, however, the fruit flies do not pay assessments.  Do not place garbage on the floor of the chute room because it will attract bugs.  If you have large boxes, please place them on the floor of the chute room and call the concierge or Management Office for a member of our staff to pick it up.  On Friday, February 22, the dumpster was removed from the building and steam cleaned.  On Wednesday, February 27, a compactor spray will be installed in the compactor room to help eliminate odors and fruit flies.  Please help us to combat this problem by tying your bags before they are placed in the chute.  Our residents will appreciate your effort.

COMMON HALLWAYS
All common area hallways must not be obstructed in any manner and are to be kept free of any objects/materials which are unsightly or hazardous. Remove all mats from unit doors as soon as possible.

BALCONY TILE & CARPET
During the balcony caulking, the contractor found several units that had tile installed on the balcony.  Further inspection indicated that the floor sealant joint had been cut, and in some cases removed by the tile installer.  Before tile or carpet is installed on your balcony, please be sure to contact the Building Engineer for information on installation.  Carpeting is not recommended on the balconies.  If the carpeting is glued onto the balcony, it will damage the waterproofing membrane.  Carpeting holds moisture, and is not recommended for the balconies.  In time, it will cause spalling and delamination of the concrete.

INSPECTION PROGRAM
The Renaissance of Sarasota offers an apartment inspection service for absent owners who want to make sure that their vacant apartment is safe, and the plumbing and air conditioning systems remain in good working order during their absence.  Attached to this newsletter is a copy of the inspection program.  If you would like to initiate an apartment inspection, please complete the attached form and mail it to the Property Manager.

PETS
Pets must be on a leash at all times when they are outside of the owner's condominium unit.  We have received complaints of animal feces on the Renaissance property.  Owners MUST PICK UP and dispose of all animal feces properly.  Pets are not permitted in the swimming pool, spa and deck area.

CARTS
Please bring the carts back to the landings on the floors after you use them.  We have found carts in the lobby and unaccompanied on the elevators.  We need to have the carts available at all times for our residents.

NOISE
Please remember to turn down your radio, stereo or television between the hours of 11:00 pm and 8:00 am and to say your "goodbyes" to departing guests inside your unit.

RESALE OF UNITS
Any unit owner contemplating selling their unit, must accompany the prospective purchaser or be accompanied by their real estate sales agent  to the unit.  We are unable to give keys to a prospective purchaser to enter the building unescorted.  A Notice of Intention to Sell Unit and Request for Association Approval form, along with a fully completed contract for sale must be presented to the Board of Directors for approval.

CONCIERGE NEWS
Don't forget to stop by the concierge desk to get information on the latest activities in the area.  See Beth for current schedules of local cultural events.

MANAGER'S UPDATE
The 2nd floor garage security gate has been repaired.  The gate was anchored to the wall and the lock repaired.

Exercise Room Thermostat We must remind our residents that the exercise room thermostat should not be set below 68 degrees.  We have found the room at 62 degrees, which is unhealthy for exercising.  A sign has been placed above the thermostat reminding residents to keep the temperature no lower than 68 degrees.

Exterior Work  On Thursday, February 21, scaffolding was erected for the general contractor and caulking contractor to begin warranty repairs to the exterior of the building. On Monday, February 25, there will be workers on boson chairs and stages caulking any open joints beginning at the Northeast and Northwest corners of the building, continuing counter clockwise around the entire building.  Work will be performed from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturdays.  We sincerely appreciate your patience.

Men's and Women's Locker Rooms
On Wednesday, February 27, the men's and women's locker room floors, along with the floor leading to the pool outside the locker room will be stripped, cleaned and a non-skid sealer will be applied.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
