THE RENAISSANCE NEWS June 2003
HVAC CONTRACT The warranty has expired on many of the apartment air conditioner/heater HVAC systems. We recommend that you contact an HVAC company to purchase a service policy. The building uses Air Service of Manasota, 342-6280. Another company you can check is Unique Air, 377-0153. We have been advised by our HVAC contractor that some residents are installing carpeting on a portion of the louvered door of the utility closet for noise insulation. The air conditioning unit is not getting the required amount of air necessary for the unit to run properly. We recommend that you remove any obstructions from the door to avoid problems.
FURNITURE DELIVERY Although we try to provide as much assistance to our residents as possible, we just don't have the staff to assist in resident deliveries. It takes time away from a staff member's assigned duties if they are assisting with a private delivery. Please provide a neighbor with your key if you cannot be home to accept a delivery.
REMEDIATION By now, all owners should have been contacted by the Developer, either to inform you that your unit does not require remediation, or to schedule a date for remediation. It is also possible that your unit underwent remediation before you purchased it. You should request a copy of the air quality test report for your apartment if you have not already done so. Be sure to keep it with your important property records. When your apartment has been remediated you will receive a release letter from the contractor, which should also be kept with your important papers. If you have any questions about remediation you can call Mr. Wade Pickard at the Wynnton Group at (813) 258-8887 (Ext 12). Some informative articles about remediation can be found at the Renaissance resident website http://RenCondo.com.
DOORS Fire regulations require that all unit doors, stairwell doors and freight elevator landing doors must be kept closed. The building staff has been advised to close all doors that are open when making their rounds. If you happen to walk by an open common area door, we ask that you take the time to close it.
DOOR ACCESS CONTROL PANELS New door access modules have been installed on all locked building entry doors. To unlock an outside door you can still use your grey proximity card by briefly touching it to the module labeled "FOR ACCESS USE PROXIMITY CARD". The numeric keypads have been replaced because they presented a security risk, and were constantly being vandalized. Your apartment key will also unlock most common area doors (bicycle room, 4th floor storage room, garage pedestrian gates, and 2nd and 3rd floor entry doors from the parking garage).
PARTY, PARTY, PARTY!!! Residents, non-residents and guests are invited to a casual Summer Splash party, hosted by the Renaissance Social Committee, Saturday, June 14 from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Join us in the Club Room & poolside for hors'doeurves, dessert, wine and soft drinks. (BYOB & mixers) The cost is $5.00 per person. Reservations and payments must be made to Pat Rogers by June 6. For information call Marlene 362-9584, Sheila 957-3043 or Jeanne 951-6027.
MOVIE NIGHT The June movie is "The Pianist". It is the true-life story of brilliant pianist and composer Wladyslaw Szpilman, the most acclaimed young musician of his time until his promising career was interrupted by the onset of World War II. This movie is a miraculous tale of survival masterfully brought to life by visionary filmmaker Roman Polanski in his most personal movie ever. Please join us in the Media Room on Thursday, June 5th at 7:30 pm. Popcorn and sodas will be provided.
CO-ED WATER AEROBICS Jeanne Sheldon will teach beginner water aerobics in our pool on 6/17, 6/19, 6/24 and 6/26 at 9:00am - 10:30am. Classes are free to residents. Per Class charge for non-residents is $10.00. A sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board outside the exercise room. You may attend any or all of the four classes. For details call Jeanne at 951-6027. HOUSEKEEPING/MAINTENANCE STAFF Residents are reminded that the Renaissance staff has its work prioritized and takes direction from the Property Manager, Pat Rogers. While it might be tempting to point out to a staff member a repair or housekeeping item that you would like addressed immediately, we ask that you bring your suggestion to the attention of Pat Rogers. Housekeeping personnel are instructed to politely decline direct work requests from residents. We hope that you will understand.
LOCKER ROOMS Work has begun to repair the damaged shower in the women's and men's locker rooms located near the pool and exercise facility. The work should take about two weeks, during which the showers and saunas will not be available. Restroom facilities will be kept open during construction.
BANYON THEATER Those of us who live in Sarasota in July and August are in for a treat. The Banyon Theater, which was started just last summer, is presenting three wonderful plays. They sold out every performance last year and will undoubtedly do so again, so get your tickets as soon as possible if you enjoy good plays. An added incentive is that the director of one of the plays is our own resident, Jonas Jurassas, who has directed plays in many countries and will be directing an opera this fall in Lithuania as well. Directing has taken Jonas and his wife, Maria, all over the world: Japan, Russia, Germany, Canada, as well as many cities in the United States and their native country Lithuania. Call 358-5330 for tickets to "The Price" which is running from 8/8 - 8/24 and is directed by Jonas.
HAIL AND FAREWELL Several personnel changes have been made during the last month that will be of interest to residents. Sherrard Murray has resigned his position as Building Engineer and has started his own home improvement company in North Port. Our concierge, Beth Hartle, will be leaving on May 30th to pursue other career opportunities. We wish them the best in their new endeavors, and will miss them. Leslie Ann Brown, Director of Real Estate for the Wynnton Group, has left the company to pursue opportunities in Georgia. Wade Pickard, of the Wynnton Group in Tampa, has assumed responsibility for remediation. The Wynnton Group has named Stanley Tarkow as the Developer's representative on the Renaissance I Association Board of Directors, replacing Leslie Ann Brown. Mr. Tarkow is a Wynnton Vice President and General Counsel. The Association housekeeping staff also has two new employees; Roger Baldwin and Yelany Riveron. JoAnn Lerer has accepted the position of Administrative Assistant/Concierge. Welcome to all!
