HAPPY NEW YEAR! Greetings to all our residents. We hope everyone had a joyous holiday season. Please remember to check your January calendar for any upcoming events.
NEW CONCIERGE Many residents have noticed Beth Hartle at the front desk. Beth is our new concierge and brings a lot of experience to the job. If you have not met Beth, take a moment to introduce yourself and say "Hi"!
We are pleased to offer the following services at the concierge desk: · Dry Cleaning/Laundry · Package Delivery/Pick Up · Reservations for our Club Room, Media and Conference Rooms. · Assistance with activities such as travel, cultural and sporting events · Recommendations for personal services such as caterers, florists, decorators and other local business referrals.
ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY Please join us on January 24th from 5:30pm - 7:30pm in the Club Room to celebrate the phenomenal success and one year anniversary of the Renaissance.
APARTMENT INSPECTIONS The Renaissance will be instituting an apartment inspection program. This service is for absent owners who want to make sure that their vacant apartment is safe, and that the plumbing and air conditioning systems remain in good working order during their inspection.
The inspection will consist of checking for plumbing leaks; the refrigerator and freezer will be checked for proper cooling; and the a/c will be checked to confirm that it is operating correctly. We will provide a copy of the inspection, along with the charges, in the March Newsletter.
MAKE IT YOUR POLICY No one likes to think about it, but natural disasters could take all our belongings away in seconds. We recommend that you make a little space in your budget to purchase contents insurance. Protect those things you work for by getting an insurance policy as soon as you can.
MOVIE NIGHT The January movie is the original "Oceans 11" showing on January 3rd at 7:30pm in the Media Room. Popcorn and sodas will be provided.
SUPER BOWL PARTY A Super Bowl Party is scheduled for February 3 in the Media Room. There will be sandwiches and soda for our residents. Stop in and root for your favorite team. (I think Chicago will go all the way even without Jim McMahon at quarterback!)
PARKING REMINDER Now that more people are arriving, please remember that the visitor parking spaces must be used by guests of the residents and sales office only.

Renaissance News (Addendum) January 31, 2002
MANAGERS CORNER UPDATE
In an effort to keep residents informed on outstanding and upcoming issues, we will periodically update you on warranty and maintenance items that play a significant role in the building. Rolling Garage Gate - Hurray! After many unsuccessful attempts to repair the garage gate by several contractors, we found one that was able to successfully repair it. It should be completed today. (Our fingers are crossed) We understand the wheel that rolls on the track continued to bind and would stop mid-stream and not continue. This wheel also prohibited the gate to close into the U clamp. Oftentimes a car would drive up to the proximity card reader and the gate would automatically open. The closed gate sensor was not activated because the gate did not fully close. When a car breaks the plane of the in ground loop, the gate senses there is an obstruction preventing the gate from closing, so the gate would open.
2ND Floor Garage Door - The door to the garage on the second floor has been repaired. We have requested a new door closure for this door.
2nd Floor Garage Security Gate -We have issued a warranty claim for this gate. This gate needs to be anchored to the wall in more than one area.
REMINDER: Fire Alarm Test
Simplex, the fire alarm specialists will be in the building on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 12 and 13. A member of our staff will accompany the technician into every unit to re-certify that the alarm system is in working order. The test is mandatory and will take approximately 2-3 minutes. . Exercise Room Thermostat -The thermostat in the exercise room has been replaced several times. We have decided not to replace the cover again, and have considered moving the thermostat. Residents have set the thermostat as low as 55 degrees. Setting the thermostat at this range can damage the compressor. The thermostat should be set no lower than 68 degrees.
Garage Re-striping -We are working with the contractor to re-stripe the three garage levels and visitor parking. The re-striping will occur on two separate days. The first day will include the entire first floor and visitor parking. Anyone parking in the visitor parking area that has an assigned space must park in that space. Visitors will need to park in the outside spaces to the East of the building. Assigned parkers on the first floor will need to park their vehicle on the 3rd floor in a vacant space for that day only. We will let you know when this event occurs.
